Visual depictions of Frank L. Simpson, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1926-28. Frank L. Simpson was born March 19, 1875, in North Barnstead, New Hampshire, and received his degrees in Damascus Lodge in Lynn in 1911, serving as its Worshipful Master in 1919; he was also a charter member of Bethlehem Lodge in Lynn (1919) and of Boston University Lodge (1926). He served as Junior Grand Deacon (1921) and Deputy Grand Master (1924) before his election as Grand Master in 1926. A graduate of Boston University (A.B. 1898, LL.B. cum laude 1903, LL.M. 1910), he taught at Boston University Law School from 1904 to 1943 and served as Dean of Suffolk University Law School from 1943 until his death in 1954. As Grand Master he established the Relief, Education, and Service departments of the Grand Lodge, created its budget system, instituted Lodges of Instruction, chartered Boston University Lodge, promoted the Masonic Hospital at Shrewsbury's Juniper Hall, and established the inter-Grand Lodge Representative System, later serving as Grand Representative of Maine from 1929 until his death on September 2, 1954.
