Visual depictions of John Cutler, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1792-94. John Cutler, born in 1723, held a full progression of Grand Lodge offices — Junior Grand Warden in 1767, Senior Grand Warden in 1768, 1779, and 1787, and Deputy Grand Master in 1792 — before becoming Grand Master himself, and it was under his leadership that the Massachusetts and St. John's Grand Lodges were formally united in 1792; he went on to grant seven new lodge charters. A brass founder with a shop on Hawley Street in Boston, he was also an accomplished musician who served as organist at Trinity Church, and his daughter Sarah married a future Grand Master, Samuel Dunn, in 1799. He died on October 26, 1805.
