Laurence E. Eaton was born January 15, 1901, and was raised in Norfolk Lodge in 1923, serving as its Worshipful Master in 1931; he was also affiliated with Nehoiden Lodge and was a charter member of The Masters Lodge. He served as Senior Grand Warden in 1957 before his election as Grand Master in 1960, later serving as a Director of the Grand Lodge from 1962 to 1984 and as Grand Representative from Delaware from 1947 to 1988. A Norwich University graduate and competitive polo player, he owned and served as president of the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham, a family business dating to 1818; he received the Scottish Rite 33rd degree in 1956 and later served as Grand Secretary General and Deputy for Massachusetts (1967-81), overseeing renovations to Grand Lodge buildings including the 1967 dedication of Paul Revere Hall. Eaton died April 17, 1996.Relationships
