Visual depictions of Roger Keith, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1948-50. Roger Keith was born May 8, 1888, in New York City, and received his degrees in Saint George Lodge in Brockton in 1909, serving as its Worshipful Master in 1934-35. He was District Deputy Grand Master of the 29th District (1939-40) and Deputy Grand Master (1946) before his election as Grand Master in 1948. An Amherst College graduate (1911), he spent twelve years in textile manufacturing before turning to insurance, founding and heading the firm Roger Keith and Sons in Brockton from 1923 onward; he also served as Mayor of Brockton (1921-22), on its City Council, and in the Massachusetts State Senate (1929-32). He commanded Bay State Commandery in 1924, received the honorary Scottish Rite 33rd degree in 1949, and served as president of Brockton Hospital. Keith died May 2, 1968, in Brockton.
