Visual depictions of Samuel P.P. Fay, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1820. Samuel Philip Prescott Fay, born January 10, 1778, in Concord, served a single one-year term as Grand Master in 1820 after serving as District Deputy Grand Master (1817–18) and Deputy Grand Master (1819); he declined renomination and was succeeded by John Dixwell. A member of Corinthian Lodge and Amicable Lodge in Cambridge, he was a Harvard-educated lawyer (1798) who sat in the Massachusetts legislature and Governor's Council and served thirty-five years as Judge of Probate for Middlesex County. During his term, Maine's lodges separated to form their own Grand Lodge. He died May 18, 1856, in Cambridge.
