Stanley F. Maxwell was born April 27, 1910, and was raised in Good Samaritan Lodge in Reading in 1931, serving as its Worshipful Master in 1944-45; he also belonged to Simon W. Robinson Lodge in Lexington and was charter Master of The Masters Lodge in Newtonville. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Malden 7th District (1954-55) and Deputy Grand Master (1964) before his election as Grand Master in 1975, later serving as Grand Treasurer (1989-90) and as Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, from 1975 to 1985. He worked as office manager for United Farmers of New England for about twenty years before becoming the first Executive Secretary of the Scottish Rite Supreme Council in 1965, overseeing the construction of its new Lexington headquarters and the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum. Maxwell died October 8, 1997.Relationships
