William Parkman, born May 9, 1811, was a Boston hardware retailer for nearly five decades (1833–1880) who also served on the Boston City Council. Initiated into the Lodge of St. Andrew in 1844 and later its Master (1857–60), he served as Eminent Commander of DeMolay Commandery and Grand Treasurer of the Grand Encampment before his election as Grand Master, during which he oversaw the reconstruction of the Masonic Temple after its destruction by fire in 1864. He died December 26, 1891.Relationships
