Context

After originally being depicted as female, Lan Caihe became more of a ambiguously gendered person, often described as intersex. They have been portrayed as many different genders and ages, but often have one shoe and tattered clothes to represent their time as a beggar. Their name is made up of the characters “blue”, “gather”, and “gentle.” Lan Caihe’s attribute is a basket of flowers to represent longevity and the transience of life. They are a patron of florists. They represent the poor.
