Name/Title

Trivet

Description

Hand-crafted spade shaped trivet with flower design.

Context

A trivet is an object that is placed between a serving dish or bowl, and a dining table, to protect the table from being damaged by the heat. Depending on the trivet some have three feet, four feet, or have no feet at all. Most trivets were made of cast iron, sometimes they were even with brass, bronze, or aluminum. Nickel plating was quite popular, because it resisted rust, however few exist in original condition.
