Expanded Wall Label:
Jennifer Steensma Hoag has been photographing land sites
since 1993. Her images focus on locations that are under
construction, or in the process of being altered.
Hoag omits contextual information in her images, however, leading
viewers to believe they are viewing documents of land art or
permanent installations. The result is an ambiguous landscape,
without any clear context,
that demonstrates a photograph's ability to both inform and deceive.
