The image is an abstract painting characterized by its blend of red and dark tones with elements of texture and blur, creating a dynamic, almost dream-like quality. The overlay of colors, mainly orange and pink hues, creates a sense of depth and movement.

General Notes

Note

A leading abstract artist of the 21st century, Gerhard Richter is seen as one of the pioneers of the New European Painting movement. This work, printed from a color negative of a 2006 painting by Richter and described by him as a “facsimile object,” illustrates his interest in sourcing imagery and using a blurred effect to appreciate color.
