General Notes

Note

Parament featuring the Star of David containing the burning bush, and branches and leaves surrounding it. Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation for the coming of the Savior. This season reminds Christians not only of the anticipated birth of the Savior but that He was prophesied in the Old Testament. The basic design of the Star of David emphasizes Christ as a descendent of the royal house of God's chosen people. The central symbol pf the burning bush (Exodus 3) illustrates the coming of Christ, for it was God speaking to Moses' promising Israel deliverance from bondage. The branches and leaves surrounding the Star of David depict the branch spoken of in Isaiah 4:2 and Zechariah 3:8, 6:12, 13. These leaves and branches surrounding the star also represent Christ who is that branch through whom God speaks and promised deliverance from sin in the New Testament. The Advent paraments link the Old Testament promises and the New Testament revelation of God's grace.
