The image depicts a vibrant and chaotic mixture of decaying fruits, wilted flowers, and dry leaves intertwined with twigs, all forming a textured tapestry of organic material. The colors range from deep reds and purples to muted greens and browns, creating a rich visual contrast.

Note

Expanded Wall Label: In her Fallen series, Marcuse contemplates the lushness of decomposition and the way in which these constructed scenes become a “tableaux of an abandoned, untended Eden.” Using collected fruit and plant material, Marcuse carefully places objects and manicures a scene with symbolic patterns, not unlike a painter constructing a work on canvas.
