General Notes

Note

Dedication banner for the Hekman Library. The green field is a symbol of life and growth. Springing from the books, journals, periodicals, documents, manuscripts are three doves on the right side, symbols of knowledge, wisdom and inspiration as fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit found in Isaiah 11:2 and I Corinthians 12:4-11. The discs, screen and microfilm on the left side interpret the technical advances which also convey information. These elements are engulfed in shades of aqua to blue in a dynamic rhythm that constantly enlivens the library as a center for information and learning. The design culminates in a sun symbolizing the true light, Christ the sun of righteousness (as found in Malachi 4:2 and John 8:2) from whom wisdom is given and to whom all wisdom belongs.
