General Notes

Note

Expanded Wall Label: After losing his life savings in an investment scam, a Palestinian named Abu Ali Kamal shot eight tourists and himself on February 23, 1997 at the Empire State Building. Kamal's family land had been taken during the formation of the state of Israel, and he and his brother had hoped to use their savings of 40 years to purchase land for the future of his family. Cedar Nordbye, A Jewish artist with a keen interest in Middle Eastern conflict, created this print as a way of giving physical form to a performance that he has been carrying out at th Empire State Building each February.
