He Established the Earth Upon its Foundations

The image showcases an abstract landscape with a textured grey surface dominating the scene. A bright red circle, representing the sun, rests above in the pale sky, creating a strong focal point. Below, a band of brown with intricate patterns suggests a rugged earth or terrain. The artwork's simplicity and textured details evoke a feeling of tranquility, while the contrasting colors and layers suggest depth and complexity.

General Notes

Note

Expanded Wall Label: Strata upon strata, hidden beneath is a layer of Hebrew, "He established the earth upon its foundations." A collagraph is an intaglio printing process, which used a built-up collaged plate made from a great variety of materials (strips of fabric, thread, aluminum foils, plants, marble dust, acrylic modeling paste) that are glued onto the surface of the masonite or cardboard. The surface is then painted or inked and run through an etching press at several thousand pounds of pressure, thereby transferring the paint and the texture to the surface of the paper. The process is completely repeated to create another print in the edition.
