General Notes

Note

LENTEN PARAMENTS The pulpit parament is made up of the Chi (X) Rho (P) monogram of Christ; the crown of thorns and the crown of victory. The two crowns of suffering and victory must be under- stood in the light of their relationship to Christ. The Chi Rho monogram is formed by the first two Greek letters X, P for the name of Christ. It is Christ's crown of thorns that reminds us of his suffering and death for our sins. The royal crown is the emblem of Christ's victory over sin and death. (II Timothy 4:8 and I Peter 5:4) The table parament uses the symbols of Christ's ultimate triumph. The palm branches and white path of Palm Sunday point to Christ's victory over death and the grave.
