General Notes

Note

Prototype Expanded Wall Label: Alan Rath, an MIT-trained engineer, strives to make machines of perfect balance, proportion and line where technology is both the subject and the medium of the work. His sculptures, such as Little Running Man, meld human, organic, and mechanical elements that are animated by computer directives and delivered with a dose of humor. In this way Rath explores issues that have characterized the art of the 20th and early 21st centuries, the relationship between art and science, and the relationship between the human body and technology.
