Description

Offers scenic views of the landscape of Carmel-by-the-sea, in Monterrey California. Shows the city's cliffside landscape. Offers a brief glimpse of an unidentified, Spanish style building. Not likely to be Carmel Mission Basilica due to its proximity to the ocean. Film later cuts to a recording of school children and their parents, performing in front of what appears to be a schoolhouse.

Context

Due to her love for travels, Mrs. Clarke spent several years of her life documenting beautiful views of California. This Reel shows the iconic landmark town of Carmel-by-the-sea, which is in the Monterey Bay Area. Marie Clarke was also interested in Japanese culture, which could explain the recording of the school children's performance.
