The film depicts Marie and several friends including the Smith family enjoying recreational time. Outside of what might be the Clark's Point Happy property, or another established property in the Idyllwild area. At a large banquet, many people enjoy each other's company at the "garden of friendship", complete with dancing. Likely a religious community group, though it is unclear. After the banquet, the film transitions to depicting a community of Soboba Natives, a tribal band within the Luiseño Indians. It depicts the outside of their living quarters, as well as several children walking around the grounds.Context
Mrs. Marie Clarke was a well-traveled woman and was exposed to different ways of life. This film shows her experiences with the natives of the San Jacinto region as well as another family of acquaintance, the Smiths. This film offers an important glimpse into the living conditions of the Soboba at the time, and also demonstrates the ways Americans exoticized their way of living.Collection
