Description

This film depicts the urban and natural scenery of the Washington D.C. area through aerial shots and ground level walking recording. Landmarks such as the Whitehouse, and National Mall are shown. Small cafes and the urban downtown Washington district are also shown.

Context

Mrs. Clarke enjoyed travel and enjoyed sightseeing to the best of her ability. These aerial shots of Washington D.C allow a glimpse into Mrs. Clarke's ability to afford a civilian flight, as well as the geographical landscape of Washington at the time. Mrs. Clarke's recording also offers a glimpse into upper-class leisure and the architecture of public leisure space.
