Context

Her maiden name was Mary E. Peckham. She married Steven A. Morrison in 1840. She was the first teacher in Western Allegan County and taught in the Ward School (Singapore school) More about Mary and her husband Stephen A. Morrison 1815-1905 is in the book, "Heroes, Rogues and Just Plain Folks" p. 14 &15. Mary is the grandmother of May Francis Heath, local historian.
