From “Keeping an Eye on History” at the OSH 2018 Artist and Model Elsa Ulbricht colored lithograph, 1934 the story | Portrayal of a painters painting models and Ox-Bow cottages are a familiar theme among the artists who worked at Ox-Bow. the artist | Elsa Ulbricht grew up and lived primarily in Milwaukee and attended Pratt Institute in New York. She first came to Saugatuck in the summer of 1913 and studied with Frederick Fursman and Walter Marshall Clute. She taught summer art classes in Saugatuck for nearly 60 years, serving as the Director of Ox-Bow from 1947 to 1958. SDHC Collection, gift of Kenneth R. Carls and James A.
