Souvenir plate with monk in full frontal pose in green robe sitting at table with wine bottles, glasses, and ceramic drinking cup. There is a picture of monks in procession behind his head. The white space of the table cloth contains the phrase: "Command Married Life to Everyone But Keep Thyself a Bachelor." The lower register of the plate has gold lettering on it: "Souvenir of Saugatuck, Mich." The plate has a gold border around the edge and there is a subtle scalloped form to the outer edge of the plate.
Makers mark in green on reverse of plate is blurred but reads as American China Company, Toronto, Ohio that operated from circa 1890 to 1910.Collection
