Two planks of rough wood papered with pages from the "American Bapt..." newspaper. Newspaper likely from 1866. The flaking, incomplete newspaper on board 1 includes this text: "not a confederacy to all them to whom t... shall ... s" "New York, Tuesday, October 9" "A History of the Army of the Potomac, by Mr. William Swinton, the accomplished war correspondent of the "New Your Times" is also among Mr. Richardson's ..." "The Cumber... is one of the finest hospital we ... in its appearance and conveniences. The Christian commission have a nice chapel, to which is attached a reading and writing room, the post-office of the hospital. I believe the commission also built the ladies diet kitchen , where I saw dinner issued to 500 on the [low diet] list. ... December 1964. The grounds are beautified with flowers and grass. The steam laundry with facilities to wash for ... patients is an object of interest. The wa ... the hospital trains is done ..."
