Description

A slender plank dock juts out into the river from a shaggy shore. Two people are rowing on the river, under the shade of a parasol. In the distance a steamship and the buildings of still-sleepy town of Saugatuck are visible. This image was featured as History Mystery #95 with the solution: A busy waterfront and restful scene was captured in this well done ca 1905 photo. It was taken in front of the Pumphouse Museum which was then the Village building housing the pumps that pumped well water up into the reservoir on the north side of Mt. Baldhead.
