Context

William G. Edgcomb was born in Ohio and came to Michigan in 1864. He served in the navy during the Civil War and later captained tugs. He married Ella Greenhalgh in 1868. They had four children: William H., Charles H. and Morgan Sr. and Nellie. The family lived at 332 Mason St. in Saugatuck Morgan Sr. also became a ship's captain for the Alabama, the South American and the North American. He married Bessie Smalley. The couple had four children: Marian, Jeanne, William B. "Bud" and Morgan J. Jr.
