Scope and Content

Rack card listing 2021 events organized by the Saugatuck Douglas Fennville Arts Initiative that included a display of portrait photographs at the Saugatuck-Douglas library, Art of the People exhibit at the History Center, Arte:Latino exhibit at the Fennville library, SiTE:LAB art happening at Wade's Bayou, Celebracion de las Artes in Fennville and Create Spark powwow at the History Center. In 2022 the Initiative installed sculptures in front of the History Center (Anishinaabe sculptor Jason Quigno’s “Seven Grandfathers), by the Douglas police station (a tall, shiny, steel pyramid) and at the Fennville Library (Hector Vegas' "Reaching for the Stars"). The Initiative was over by 2023

Context

SDFAI was a short-lived non-profit, organized by Maryjo Lemanski, that sought to revitalize the Saugatuck-area's arts scene. Special attention was given to represent artists and citizens who may have not been well represented in the past.
