Newspaper clipping of special coverage printed in the Commercial Record on the the occasion of its centennial. Article mentions the series of publishers and changes to the publication's name: 1868 - launched as the Saugatuck Commercial by Dr. A.H. Pattee 1869 - taken over by F.B. Pattee in 1870 - sold to Hudson Post, name changed to Lake Shore Commercial, managed by E.W. Perry 1873 - sold to Myron W. Tarbox 1879 - sold to John Wilson and Henry Elmeyer, Charles M. Winslow editor 1877 - sold to Byron Markham, later partnered with Charles F. Wasson, name change to The Commercial, then back to Lake Shore Commercial 1878 - Markham sold out to Wasson 1880 - Mrs. Lena Woodhull took over as editor with W.E. Bellows as co-editor 1882 - Fred Wade joined as partner. In April, paper sold to Adrian Houtkamp 1885 - Charles M. Winslow returns to publish Weekly Record in Douglas 1886 - Houtkamp resigns, sold to Fred Wade 1898 - sold to William P. Dunton 1901 - name changed back to Saugatuck Commercial 1902 - merged with Douglas Weekly, name changed to Commercial-Record on April 11 with Winslow as a writer. Office moved from near Village Green to "north of Drug Store" Replaced had press with Hoe cylinder press. Later that year sold to Otis O. Hauke. 1903 - added Ashely D. Rowe as partner 1912 - Dr. R.L. Anglemiare associate editor, printed Oak Openings in installments 1917 - sold to Lintsford B. Goshorn 1926 - Goshorn dies, paper run by wife 1927 - sold to Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Madden, printing done in barn behind their house on Hoffman St. 1946 - sold to G. Robert Crawford and Gwendolyn E. Crawford, lived on Culver St. New brick building on Culver to printing. Staff included Lennary Hemwall, Wayne Schaeffer, Louis Mitchell, Jack Janis 1951 - sold to Theodore E. Van Dussen of Fennville 1952 - William R. Simmons appointed editor 1955 - sold to Mr. and Mrs. Ed. L. Bigelow 1957 - sold back to T.E. Van Dussen, Mary K. Bettles named editor 1958 - sold to Dale E. Royer, soon Bill Simmons appointed editor (again) 1965 - sold to William R. Parker 1966 - Bill Simmons dies 1967 sold to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Lane
