Of interest to people who are native to, or curious about the history of this area. The region is small, covering only the western portion of Allegan County, Michigan. But this volume holds the most information available for its origin as an native American settlement (mostly Pottowatamie) encroached by William Butler, the first European settler there. The main areas include Saugatuck (where Butler settled), Douglas, Glenn and Ganges (settled primarily by Benjamin Plummer), and the eastern portions, Hamilton, Fennville, and East Saugatuck. Again, the purchase price for this volume, a rather hefty cost, is very much worth the cost for those who are from here or are fascinated by its history.
