Scope and Content

Three CDs of draft wall graphics from the 2011 SDHS Museum exhibit "Village Patchwork." Most files are PDFs. Draft exhibit panels and text are included in this entry.

Context

The exhibits main panels covered the founding of the villages, working at a sawmill, leisure activities, chain ferry and bridge transportation, the post office and home mail delivery, Dr. Walker and the Community Hospital, school consolidation and education, the Labor Day Bridge Walk. The side panels covered what do the names of Saugatuck and Douglas mean, population, industry and production, the longest-lasting businesses, restaurants and food, ice cream, the stoplight in Saugatuck, electrical service, highways, farmers and the first telephone company, major fires, the Kirby house as a hospital, churches, schools through the years and student statistics, and "how to small towns citizens get things done?"
