Description

Black ink etching of a village alley with a tree casting a shadow over a walkway. On the right some cross timbers and shingled roof suggests a European local. An identical print in the collection has a notation on the back of the etching that reads: "The Alley, Carl Hoerman's town at Babenhausen, Schwaben, Germany - passage to his home. Christiana A. Hoerman $10" See 2014.23.04. The print is unframed and wrapped in packet of clean papers and file folders for stability. The SDHC also has a framed version of this print.

Context

This print was a gift to Maryjo Lemanski from John Schwoebel and Jack Whitlock, of the Whitlock Gallery in Douglas.
