House being builtEntry/Object ID
2017.38.06Description
Image of a house being built. It is almost completed and three men can be seen standing on or near the roof. It is unknown if this house belonged to the Moker family, or perhaps, the Reeves family. It is also unknown where the photo was taken. A town named Dyer does exist south of Lansing, which is a location that the Moker's visited at one point. So, it is possible that the house is from there, but this is unconfirmed. There is a stamped makers mark on the back: "Rolland R. Delp Photos of babies, children, groups, houses, flashlights, printing and developing. Saitsfaction guarenteed. 128 Dyer Street." The date of the photo is also unknown, but based on the house style it was mostly likely in the early 1900s. The photo has a cardboard frame with a brown and black border on it.Photograph Details

Both the photo and frame are in poor condition. The picture, itself seems to have either dirt or maybe soot covering the top half. It may be possibly to clean this dirt. The rest of the photo which hasn't been covered in dirt has begun to fade, although it is still possible to make out details in the photo. As for the frame, the edges have begun to peel off. This is most likely due to frequent handling. The entire frame has also begun to curve inward. On the back of the frame in the lower center, there are several scratches in the cardboard. It is unknown what caused these scratches, but they are only on the surface. There is also a tear in the frame on the back left.Create Date
