Archivist's Notes: Both the published book and unpublished paper will be sent to be scanned by a professional company. We will be sending them our reference library copy of the book to be scanned. But, we will also be sending the manuscript for his history of the black lake region paper. As a result, it will not be in the box until it is returned. An intial scan was made at the archives, but it is not high quality. Once the manuscript is returned it will be placed back in the box in the appropriate folder.
Before processing began a label was placed on the box that reads "Charles Lorenz Box 84." It's unknown what this number signifies, but for the time being the label will be left in place until that can be determined. For this record, though, it will be referred to as Box 8 and have a corresponding label.
Existence of Copies: We do own a copy of his published book "The Early History of Saugatuck and Singapore, Michigan 1830-1840" and it is kept in the archives in our reference library.

Overall Condition
GoodNotes
The manuscript, published copy of the book and handwritten notes are in good condition with only minor deterioration from age. The notes for his book that are typewritten, though, show a moderate to severe amount of deterioration. The pages are brown and the edges are fragile and prone to tearing. This is most likely due to the type of paper used, and they will most likely continue to deteriorate if exposed to strong lights for prolonged periods of time. It's best to handle these with some care.Relationships
