Scope and Content

Documents, notes, photos, and items that are personal, but still relevant to Saugatuck. There are historic items such as an Ad from the Jenison Electric Park and Interurban from 1903. There are also 2 travel guides for Washington D.C from 1900, an almanac published by the Commercial Record in 1922, and personal correspondence in box 15. There are also forms and documents detailing his various personal interests outside of his research on Saugatuck. There are membership papers from the 1st Chicago Bottle Club, forms from the Holland Historic Trust, and information from bed and breakfasts in Saugatuck and Douglas. The Lorenz's operated a bed and breakfast out of the Old Wing Mission building and were involved with the other bed and breakfasts in the area. Lorenz kept brochures, ads, and other documents related to the time he owned the Old Wing Bed and Breakfast. There was too much to fit into one box, so it had to be split between two boxes. The achievement award was too big to fit into a typical flip top box so it has to be stored in a flat box instead. There is a 1903 advertisement from the Jenison Electric Park with the Interurban schedule. It contains the train schedule for the season along with descritptions of the park's attractions. There are also 2 travel guides for Washington D.C and an almanac from 1922. There is also personal correspondence between Lorenz and various individuals who were personal friends, but also fellow local historians.
