Name/Title
Log dollar stamped E and FEntry/Object ID
2024.20.01Description
24"-wide slice cut off from a pine log. The slice is stamped 12 times with the letters "E" and "F"
The slice is mounted on a wooden tray with trimmed edge for wall display. The slice has a large check (crack) and is attached to the backing tray with four metal clips.
It is not known where the tree was felled or if a lumbering company marked the slice, which was sometime also called a log slug or, more colorfully, a log dollar because it was flat, circular and represented money.Context
Another dollar in collection, 2023.42.01, is marked with an same-size F stamp.Collection
