A groundbreaking exhibition that considered the history of “summertime” through artifacts, images, stories, and photographs—from steamships full of funseekers to fishing, boating, beach culture, swimsuit fashion, cottage life, and sexual liberation. A scale model highlighted the story of the famous Big Pavilion dance hall (1909-1960). The exhibiton featured a display of “Postcards from Home” by high school art classes. The “Summertime Post Office Station” yielded over 300 summertime postcards drawn by young visitors.Collection
