An advertisement from 1908 states, " A beautiful place to rest, surrounded a large apple trees on the crest of a hill. From chicago come via G&M boat or Pere Marquette R.R. to Holland and from there on electric R.R. When you reach Saugatuck gt off at Hoffman's corner, walk one block south to "Apple Crest." New England Cooking. Rates $7.00 to $10.00 per week Saugatuck, Mich. There is a scan in Box 8.
