Chain Ferry Scow with names

JayMeyersOnFerry.jpg 2.1MB: It's too bad we didn't have this picture when all the fuss was being made over the new Chain Ferry - because this is one of the best we've seen on the subject. This photograph was taken in 1907 and shows (left to right) Allie Daggett and Ivan Arends sitting up on the wagon. The ever popular Jay Myers is next with his famous pipe in place. The gentleman in the back with his hands on his hips is Mr. Vreeland. Russell Frehse has both hands on the crank handle, and is porting a brand new pair of knickers. Ross Phelps is on the outside crank. The ladies at the rear are not identified, but the horse's name was Dobbin, of course. [Caption text from an undated Commercial Record newspaper clipping]
