Library sign

Entry/Object ID

2023.04.01

Description

Sandblasted redwood sign that hung on the library's 10 Mixer Street location. According to Ingrid Boyer, Director of the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library, the sign was made by Robert Krause (Senior?), the father of Saugatuck’s current custom sign maker Robert Krause (who has refreshed the sign's paint at least one time) and the sign was installed before 2005. When the library moved to its new location at 174 Center Street, the sign was retired.

Context

This sign and its typography is associated with the library when it was at its "old" location. (The library had at least two locations in Saugatuck before it moved to Douglas.) See the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library's organization profile for the complete chronology.
