"The photo location is the basin beach - south shore of the Kalamazoo river, just inside the 1906 piers. The houses on the north shore are property of the Cook family and were summer cottages built for their extended family members. The so called Dug Road is seen leading up to them. There were three or four along that shore in the dunes almost to the lakeshore. I know a bit of the Cook family history.
