Simmons, editor of the Commercial Record newspaper between 1941 and 1961. From 2001 SDHS book "Off the Record": The tall wooden structure in the center is Phelp's Hardware Store, with the post office beyond. To the left is Dominic's Barber Shop. The man with the truck in front of the barber shop is Frank Bransburger who was a flower wholesale. Other businesses were the newstand, the Log Cabin tavern and dry cleaners.
