Collection of photos, postcard, brochure and newspaper clippings about steamships collected by Dr. John Kreager. Many items have "Charter" written on the bottom or back. A. Five 8x10" b/w Simonson photos of steamships B. Four ±5x7" b/w photos of ships and the river C. "Aeroplane view of Saugatuck, Mich by Chicago Aerial Survey Co." color postcard published by Parrish & Simonson, never mailed. D. "Michigan's Delightful Summer Resorts reached direct via steamship United States" Indiana Transportation Company brochure. E. Commercial Record, 20 Jan 1977, mailed to Dr. John Kreager in Plainwell, MI, with front page story "Rogers and Bird, the Golden Years of Boat Building" F. Commercial Record, 15 Aug 1968, four pages from Centennial special edition with partial story about ships, "The Big Pavilion - An Era," and the "Channel Replaces River's Mouth"

Context

John "Jack" Kreager, son of Dr. Herman E. Kreager, grew up in Saugatuck and raced model sailboats (see 2024.47.01). His interest in watercraft carried on even after he moved away from town.
