Name/Title

Glow in the Park/Halloween Parade card 2022

Entry/Object ID

2023.54.13

Scope and Content

Card promoting Glow in the Park, a family event at Saugatuck's Coghlin Park and the 24th annual Douglas Halloween Parade in 2022. The card has illustrations of a trio of anime-style children enjoying the Glow on one side and, on the other side, a woman in a yellow gown leading costumed adults to where the Pumpkin King lurks behind a tree.

Context

The Douglas Halloween parade, launched by Ginger Wilkinson and friends in 1998, has been carried on by her daughter Erin Wilkinson with the help of many community members including Lawrence Basgall and Michael Schwabe (aka Hystopolis Productions) who operate the Pumpkin King puppet. The Glow in the Park is a newer event designed for children who generally do not attend the "adult" parade in Douglas.
