Research about artist/architecht Thomas Eddy Tallmadge, mostly photocopies, collected by James Schmiechen.

Context

Thomas Tallmadge was born in Washington DC, and shortly after his family moved to Evanston, Illinois. He earned his degree in architecture in 1898 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He and his associate Vernon Spencer Watson designed many suburban Chicago homes and multiple churches in Tallmadge’s hometown of Evanston, Illinois. He also wrote extensively on architectural history publishing the books “The Story of Architecture in America “ and “The Architecture of Old Chicago”.
