2024.04.14Scope and Content
Two records of bids received and architectural plans for an unknown building created by Consoer Townsend & Associates, Consulting Engineers of Benton Harbor, Michigan for the Village of Saugatuck.
The unknown building may have included a public or school restroom since it has doors marked "Boys" and "Girls" on the east elevation. The plan drawing has a chimney, suggesting it would be heated, an ornamental metal grill and lannon stone facing. The "eave detail digester wall" suggests the building would have included a tank or apparatus for decomposing organic waste.
The bid records are dated Feb. 13, 1950. The top of the sheets list the various companies who bid on installing extra strength vitrified pipe, installing non-reinforced concrete pipe, and various components of a treatment plant and sanitary sewage system. The sanitary sewage system record is torn in half with Contract No. II missing.Context
