Mentions the inn's founding by Jonathan Wade in 1861, the Wade family exodus to Cadillac, new owners Weatherwax and Mason, manager John Ryan, proprietors W.D. Roberts and Jervis H. Kibby, Kibby's 80-acre Uba Dam Fruit Farm, trading the inn to Fred Schultz in 1916, an account by Mrs. Vere Kean and the inns destruction by fire in Feb. 1934 as recounted by Mrs. Howard Schultz. The bottom of the clipping has a list of Village of Douglas Presidents from 1870 to 1970 that includes the surnames Ensign, Wiley, Smith, Gray, McLean, Gill, Payne, Boyles, Moore, Dutcher, Crouse, Kerr, McDonald, Stroud, Wade, Weed, Plummer, Gerber, Stroud, Durham, McDonald, Forrester, Plummer, Devine, Kramer, Tisdale, Prentice, Campbell, Bekken, Quade, Dryan, Gifford, Showers, Scott, Wicks, Henneman.
