Context

From Mark Erlandson via facebook Saugatuck Remembered "That was in the Veterans Memorial that should have never got taken down with two benches where it is now in Douglas the plaque was on the brick centerpiece and in the center of that we put a time capsule so to speak. I know there was some other stuff in there but I can't remember what. I can ask my brother if he knows. I helped my dad and the bricklayer that laid the bricks and Doug Forrester also helped pouring the benches I believe. Makes me sad they tore it down it was more of a memorial and nice spot to set looking at each other."

General Notes

Note

Also part of the message from Mark Erlandson: "There is another thing that we came across down in Douglas by the kayak rental we were doing some work down there and Ray orzahoskie was digging with his backhoe it was a stone or concrete big round wheel with some kind of Engravings in it and to this day and when my dad was alive we could not understand why it got left underneath and is still there and we didn't take it out and investigate further any archaeologists City pays for the concrete for a new walk because of the excavation I'll pour it LOL would like to see that stone wheel."
