January 12, 1922 letter from John C. Ketcham, U.S. House of Representatives, 4th District, Michigan to H.C. Simonson, Village Clerk, about improving the harbor including dredging sand bars at the mouth of the Kalamazoo River to ease the passage of steamships.

Context

So long as there have been crafts larger than canoes traveling the Kalamazoo, there have been navigational problems.
