Six black-and-white photos of Douglas Beach. Each image has information handwritten on the back of the print. The notes describe the state of the beach after storms had eroded the dunes.
1. Public beach is only place we can get up and down -- with aid of a log or two.
2. I was standing just opposite the Bath House looking north. The first steps are falling -- the second ? were cut off and removed to save them. In back ground is Mrs. Clark's crumbling? patio & our door fire place somewhere removed from it's original position.
3. This -- I just had to send. The dry wells & septic tanks look so funny on top of sand (Merrill's) This was taken prior to last bad storms.
4. Atwood's boat house & shuffle board court after last storm. You will recall how far back from water -- it used to be.
5. Still going north at this ? the beach in previous years was widest. Now bank is so high -- one cannot see the cottages you're in front of.
6. This is a point much farther south. No sand at all -- from about Martin's beach house and down past Jager's? -- just rocks and very narrow.
The lack of leaves on the trees suggest the photos were taken in the winter.
These photos were loaned to the SDHC for scanning and were returned to their owner.Photograph Details
